March 28 – April 1

Casa

It is Health and Hygiene week for Casa 1. This week, the children learned about nutrition and making healthy choices. They sorted food to show their knowledge of healthy and unhealthy items as well as the 5 food groups. We learned what a healthy meal should look like and why there are also “sometimes” foods.

Children in Casa 2 learned about the life cycle of a plant and what a plant needs in order to grow. We did an experiment to show the refraction of light and how a rainbow is formed. Children also enjoyed learning to make their own playdough to play with using just flour, oil, salt, and food colouring.

Pre-Casa

This week, pre-casa children experimented with a variety of water sensory activities. These activities help to regulate their emotions and stay focused. During each activity, children were encouraged to create their own play with open-ended materials like glass stones, pom-poms, mini-figures, and other small objects. Through play, children can develop their independent thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, children were invited to talk about the weather, read books and sing weather songs.
