Welcome to the 2022 – 2023 school year
Casa B children sang the welcome song and learned the names of their classmates. Children visited other classes to become familiar with the school environment. Children were introduced to the Pink Tower and Brown Stairs where they practiced matching, sorting and building by size. Children learned to stand in a line and walk in a line and the importance of respecting our classroom materials.
Casa C children learned the names of their classmates by choosing a coloured flower that represents themselves. Children practiced sitting in a circle for group activities. We sorted colours, matched shapes, counted numbers, and sang the alphabet song as a review. We did a hand printing and prepared a little summary of our favorite colors and food.
Precasa children were very brave and many adapted well this first week back. They did not cry much but blended in smoothly and worked beautifully all week. Children showed interest in animals. Children loved to experience milking fake cows made from plastic gloves and white paint. They had a great time searching for farm animals hidden outside on the playground. They made a pretty cow and a muddy pig using and practicing their fine motor skills. Children had a chance to learn the alphabet “c” by making a chick and they read a variety of books about farm animals. Children loved to sing Old McDonald with the use of small finger puppets. Lastly, they enjoyed all different kinds of farm animal puzzles and learned the name of the farm animals.
