Casa
Children in Casa 1 continued with the unit on Canada. They learned about the Canadian currency and flowers. We followed Canada Crew to check out Toronto’s Allan Gardens, and participated in Ottawa’s famous Tulip Festival. We made our own piggy bank and learned the names of the different coins after watching a video on how coins are made at the Canada Mint. We learned that on the back of our 5 cents is the iconic Canadian beaver, so we made a 3D beaver as a craft.
In Casa 2, children are progressing well in counting and spelling activities. We continued to talk about family and made a booklet. In science, we did a colour mixing activity and watched colour diffuse and spread on coffee filter paper.
Pre-Casa
Children were invited to an environment enriched with rainbows. Using their fine-motor skills, children made their own rainbow by stringing beads onto a pipe cleaner. They learned to count from 1 to 10 with rainbow cards; sang rainbow songs; and enjoyed stories about rainbows. Children were eager to share and showed great interest in activities involving colours.
