Casa

The theme for this week was Little Chefs.  Casa children talked about various baking utensils – grater, rolling pin, whisk, spatular.  We used these tools to help make the cookie dough.  Then we talked about healthy and unhealthy food and differentiate between liquid and solid food.  We enjoyed baking cookies and pizza.  We made our summer rainbow skewer and had a chilling fruit juice popsicle.  What a way to finish off the last week of summer camp!

Pre-Casa
This week, pre-casa children had fun learning about baking. They played with a flour sensory bin to feel the soft touch of flour and made their own cupcakes.  For dramatic play, children were very engaged in playing with the pizza station and loved to choose thier favourite toppings such as onion, bacon, pepper, and mushrooms. They learned those words quickly while playing and serving the pizza to friends and teachers. We also let children make paper donuts, bread with jams, and cupcakes with pompoms.  It is noticeable that children enjoyed doing those crafts and repeated those vocabulary several times during the week.
